Dark-Drive is a USB storage device with specially modified firmware that is a result of original Digital Operatives research. The Dark-Drive firmware capability for digital storage devices demonstrates that your computer’s ability to store and retrieve data relies entirely on trusting the behavior of the internal microcontroller on the storage device.
The Dark-Drive firmware enables a device to exhibit only standard storage device behavior until it detects a given host computer or stored data, upon which it can take action. For example, it
might start to subversively modify or destroy data, introduce an exploit to a file, or modify a stored program.
